JIN SIL KIM

"My Forest"

June 15 to July 14, 2001

The paintings of Jin Sil Kim convey to the viewer a fresh awareness of beauty and diversity in nature. A Los Angeles area artist, Ms. Kim is an ardent admirer of the richness and abundance of the California countryside. Working with ink, and acrylic on silk, rice paper and wood, Ms. Kim’s paintings can be defined by their fluid brush strokes, light, color and poetic lyricism. The artist’s inclusion of organic shapes in her series, My Forest, creates an energy and movement that brings depth to her lyrical abstractions of nature.

Ms. Kim graduated from Hong-Ik University, College of Fine Arts in Seoul, Korea and also studied with renowned painter Mr. Ok Jin Kim. Her works have been shown in numeral solo and group shows in Korea, United States and Spain and she has been awarded five times in the Korean National Art Contest.

Consisting of thirty new works, this is Ms. Kim’s first major solo show in the Washington Metropolitan area.
